Bernice Geisert

Bernice Laverne Geisert of Duluth MN, formerly of Esko, MN passed away on October 4, 2018 at age 83 at Essentia Health Medical Center. She is survived by her daughters Lynn Wirtz of Duluth MN, Michelle Geisert of Smyrna GA, Terri Micheau (Dan) of Duluth MN, Sharyl Geisert (Susan) of Tilton, NH, her brother, Alvin Wallin, her cherished grandchildren, Heather, Ann, Courtney, Kaitlin, Chandler, and Taylor and her great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Urho and Daisy Wallin, her husband, Donald Geisert, and daughter, Andrea Geisert. Bernice, also known as Grandma GG, had a love for children. Much of her life was spent serving children in the arena of elementary teacher, girl scout leader, and dance teacher. After retiring from Advanstar she went to Little Treasures to “rock” babies. Bernice and Don were a team of caring individuals. Their house was a safe place to go for support and a plate of food. Bernice enjoyed reading, playing bridge, knitting, and watching skating and gymnastics competitions. She shared her love of music and dance with her children and grandkids and never missed one of their sporting events, concerts, or recitals. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday Oct 12, 2-4pm at Dougherty Funeral Home 600 E 2nd St, Duluth. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in honor of Bernice to the Alzheimer's Association, 525 S. Lake Ave. Duluth MN 55811 or toward the Celebration of Life expenses.
