Arnold "Arnie" Carlson

Arnold “Arnie” S. Carlson, 78 of Duluth, died Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Chris Jensen Health Center, Duluth.

Arnie was born June 4, 1938 in Cloquet to Arnold C. and Myrtle Carlson.  He graduated from Cloquet High School and went on to receive his accounting degree from UMD.  He retired as controller for Maurices.

Arnie met Donna Werner while at UMD and they were married on July 1, 1961 in Little Falls, MN and they made Duluth there home.

Arnie was very active in the Shrine.  He was a 33 Degree Mason; served two terms as Past Master of the Lakeside/Lake Superior Lodge 349; member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and AAD Temple Shrine and its Clown Unit where he was “Zero the Clown”.  He also served as a Director of the Order of the DeMolay.

Arnie was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church; he enjoyed going to Auctions; spending time at the property in Mora and looking at the city of Duluth from his deck.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Myrtle and his wife, Donna in 2013.

Arnie is survived by his sons, Lee (Leslie) and Todd (Cheryl); grandchildren, Jack (Rosanne), Jeff (April), Alex (Elisa) and Nikki (Adam); great grandchildren, Emma, Alaina, Waylon, Lily and Sophia and his brother, Duane (Marlene) Carlson.

Services are Wednesday, with a visitation starting at 1pm and services at 2pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home.  Burial at Park Hill Cemetery.
