Virginia Davidson

Virginia M. “Toots” Davidson, 94 of Duluth, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 12th in the comfort of her home.  Her husband Harry preceded her just 22 days before.  Toots was born June 12, 1927, in Grand Forks, ND.  As a young girl she moved to Duluth with her parents, Melvin and Agnes (Ell) Cauchon.  In 1946, she met Harry and they were married on Feb. 28, 1947.  They celebrated 74 years of marriage.   She worked at the former Ridgeview Bowling Lanes.  She loved getting together with friends for lunch and a game of bingo. Up until a few years ago Toots and Harry would play cribbage daily with the winner earning the title of “Boss” for the day.  She also enjoyed camping and fishing with Harry and her family.  Toots was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, life member of United Northern Sportsmen and VFW post 137.  After Harry’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling in their RV to the warmth of the southern states.  She was a loving wife; mother, grandma and great grandma and she will be greatly missed.  Toot’s family would like to thank Dr. David Arvold for his loving care of our mom.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant son, granddaughter, Beth Davidson, brother, Donald Cauchon; son in law, Kenneth Kangas, and grandson in law, Christian Schwartzbauer.

Toots is survived by her children, Sherry Kangas, Linda “Mickie” Davey (Brian), and Dale (Diane) Davidson; four grandchildren, Troy (Sandi) Davey, Vicki Schwartzbauer, Tracee (Rocky) Davey and Kenny Kangas; six great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren; brother, Melvin (Ruth) Cauchon; sisters in law Carol McLeod, Loretta Davidson, and Iris Archibald; brothers in law, Don Davidson, and Bill (Ginny) Davidson and many extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 25th from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue Saturday, Feb. 26th from 10-11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. John’s Church, 4230 St. John’s Ave., Duluth, MN.  Interment at Calvary Cemetery.  Sign the online register book at, www.dfhduluth.com.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd St, Duluth, MN, (218) 727-3555.
