Duluth

Sherry Cozzi, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away on August 8, 2026, at the age of 79. She was born March 4, 1947, in Kelliher, Minnesota. She lived a life filled with hard work, compassion, music, family, and a love for the outdoors.

Throughout her life, Sherry worked as a hairdresser/beautician, a laborer for the pipeline, and a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was someone who spent much of her life caring for others, always willing to help those around her. Later in life, as she navigated the difficult journey of dementia, she was lovingly cared for by those who were able to give back some of the same love and compassion she had given so freely.

Sherry was a strong woman who faced many challenges throughout her life. She battled cancer once before and ultimately lost her fight with the disease. Through life’s hardships, she continued to carry herself with grace and dignity with a bit of stubbornness, just her own.

Sherry is survived by her two biological sons, Jaret Whittwer and Jeff Whittwer, son-in-law, Larry Jr or Larry’ O as she called him, daughter-in-law, Dee, who she considered as her own son and daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren, along with many other beloved relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Cozzi, Sr., her brother Ed, her parents, and many other members of the Cozzi family who undoubtedly welcomed her home.

Sherry had a love for the simple things that made life special. She adored her pet parrot, Paco, and was a huge fan of country western music. She enjoyed playing her organ and singing. She loved spending time outdoors and participated in deer hunting and fishing when she could. She also enjoyed baking and sharing the things she made with others. She even wrote a couple of children’s books to her grandchildren when they were young.

Sherry will be remembered for her caring nature, her strength, her love of music, her appreciation for the outdoors, and the many people she cared for throughout her life.

Though she is deeply missed by those who remain, she is now reunited with her husband, her brother, and the many loved ones who went before her. May she rest peacefully, surrounded once again by the people she loved with music playing and Paco close by.
