Sharon Louise Shykes

Sharon Louise Shykes passed away on Saturday, May 14th at the age of 83. Sharon was born to George and Elvera Kehoe on November 28th, 1938, in Virginia Minnesota.

Sharon graduated from Central High School.  Shortly after, she met the love of her life, Richard Shykes and married in June 1959. Together they raised four beautiful children, two of Sharon’s younger siblings and four foster children.  She and Richard owned many businesses together. After retiring, Sharon and Richard moved south to a lake home in Eufaula, Oklahoma, where they resided until recently.

Sharon’s faith was the center of her life. She loved the Lord and volunteered at her church serving in many ministries.  Those who met Sharon felt her kindness, thoughtfulness and giving spirit.  Anyone who spent time at Sharon’s home could tell that she had a green thumb and had a passion for gardening. She spent time helping others, loved reading, and enjoyed listening to Irish singer, Danny O’Donnell, but what she cherished the most was time spent with her family.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Kathy, Peggy, Joan, and Jimmy.

She is survived by husband, Richard; children, Julee (Randy) Ellefsen, Beth (Bob) Chesley; Paul, Amy (Bruce) Smith; grandchildren, Derek, Melissa, Greg, Ashlee, Andrew, Eric, Paul Jr., Nolan, Luke; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty, Lois, Susie, Diane, Bobby, Dennis, Jack, and Patrick; and numerous, nieces, nephews, other family, friends, and her beloved dog Hollee.

Visitation will be 5-7PM, Wednesday, May 25th, 2022, at St. Lawrence Church 2410 Morris Thomas Rd, Duluth, MN 55811. Visitation will continue Thursday, May 26th, 2022, at 10AM followed by the 11AM funeral Mass.
