Sandra (Sandi) DeMars

Sandra (Sandi) Jo Helland DeMars, 57, gained her wings on Monday August 5th, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN.

Sandi was born in Duluth, MN on September 15th, 1961.  Family and friends were Sandi's love and joy. She was always willing to help people, however she could. She will be missed by all those who’s lives crossed paths with hers. She was forever optimistic, finding a positive spin in every situation. She had a wicked dry wit that will be remembered by everyone.

Sandi is survived by her husband Richard, her son Sean Swapinski, her father Orville (Beverly) Helland, sisters Diane (Joseph) Nelson and Bonnie (Scott) McEwan, brothers Larry (Luzette Goddard) Thompson and Randy (Kerri Hauser) Helland, grandchildren Eddie Swapinski, Audrey Swapinski, Mallory Pederson and Arya Fronden, and numerous step children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Tricia, and mother Bette Helland.

A private memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on September 4th followed by a graveside service at Oneota Cemetery on September 5th at 11:00 am.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, 218-727-3555.
