Russell Torgeson

Russell Eugene Torgeson, 88, of Gnesen Township, passed away unexpectedly on Friday March 11, 2022, in St. Luke’s Hospital.  He was born in Clover Valley, MN on August 10, 1933, to Thomas and Pauline Torgeson.  Russ graduated from Clover Valley High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran.  He worked as a Carmen for 42 years with the D.M. & I.R. until his retirement.  Russ was a member of Family of God Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed hunting, camping, snowmobiling, boating, fishing, wood working, and loved to help family with home projects.  Russ always enjoyed helping out on the family farm and spending time with his family, especially Sunday dinners.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Ernie Egerdahl, Margaret Leopold, Jim Torgeson, and Eldon “Red” Torgeson.

He is survived by his wife Donna of 66 years, children Steve (Carrie) Torgeson, and Gail Torgeson, grandchildren Andie (Jake) Comnick, Sam (Drew) Scherber, Stephanie (Nate Smith) Torgeson, Brandon Mudrack, and Amanda (Hunter Edwards) Mudrack, great-grandchildren Harper, and Emerson Comnick, Blake and Logan Scherber, and many loved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 16, 2022, in Dougherty Funeral Home from 5PM to 7PM.  Visitation will continue Thursday March 17, 2022, from 10AM until the 11AM Funeral Service in Family of God Lutheran Church.  4097 Martin Road, Duluth, MN 55803.  Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery-Duluth.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home.  600 E. 2nd St. Duluth, MN 55805.  218-727-3555.
