Ronald William Sorensen, 93, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025 at the Veterans Home in Silver Bay. Ron was born in Warren, PA on February 8, 1932 to Andrew and Myrtle Sorensen. He graduated from Harvard with a degree in forestry, and worked for Minnesota Power most of his life. He married the love of his life, Joy on March 7, 1954 and had two children, Diana and Wesley. They raised their family in Duluth, MN and later moved to Grand Rapids where Ron had a Christmas tree farm for many years, before moving back to Duluth. He served in the Korean War and was a very proud veteran.
Ron loved to fish, hunt and spend time outdoors. He had a passion for nature and was often found going on walks outdoors. He had many dogs in his lifetime whom he spoiled beyond belief.
Ron was the best father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He had 7 great grand children ages 8 months to 5 years, who he also spoiled with plenty of chocolate and treats. He loved to sing and would always sing Jesus loves me to his great grand babies.
Most of all, Ron loved Jesus. He had such a strong faith that was admirable. His advice for about everything was to pray about it, which always lead to resolution and peace. Ever since Ron's wife passed in 2019, he had been longing to be with Jesus and reunited with Joy. We know he was ready and trust it was quite the grand reunion in Heaven.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife Joy, daughter Diana Rust, son Wesley Sorensen, parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Ron is survived by his grandson Grant (Morgan) Sorensen, granddaughters Kaitlyn (Dan) Buck and Kristin (Lucas) Anderson, seven great grandchildren, two sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the staff of the Veterans Home in Silver Bay for their outstanding care.
