Roger Schaefer

Roger W. Schaefer, 92 of Duluth died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospice.  Roger was born Sept. 20, 1925 in Winona, MN to George and Freida Schaefer.  He graduated from Winona High School and served in the Merchant Marines during WW II.  He met Florence Cozzi and they were married on March 10, 1945.  Roger worked for Ulland Bros. Construction and retired as the Secretary Treasurer.

He was a member of St. Lawrence Church; he enjoyed raising Homing Pigeons and doing all his own construction at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Freida.

Roger is survived by his wife, Florence; children, Bill (Judy), Sally (Tom) Sveine, George (Stephanie), Marlene Gilbertson and Darlene (John) Marks; grandchildren, Scott and Brad; Aleta, Cassie and Vince and great grandchildren, McKeely, Corbin and Kiera.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Friday at St. Lawrence Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Rd. Duluth.  Burial at Calvary Cemetery.  Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, (218) 727-3555.
