Robert Tatsu Ogura, age 41 of Duluth died at home unexpectedly from natural causes on May 8, 2024. He was born in Laredo, TX, and lived in Duluth for most of his life. Upon his high school graduation from Duluth East High School, Robert enlisted in the United States Army. A two-time purple heart recipient, he served his country with courage and honor during Operation Iraqi Freedom. His selflessness was evident through his service to his country, but also in his love of animals. Robert and his fiancé, Sam, opened their home to countless reptiles. Lovingly referring to their apartment as “Sam and Rob’s Reptile Rescue". Robert also loved his Jeep and had a great love for the outdoors, enjoying off-road excursions.
Robert is survived by his parents, Kenji & Anna Maria “Jamie” Ogura; fiancé, Sam Schultz; grandmother, Eiko Ogura; uncle, Tatsuo Ogura; aunts, Deborah Jo Adams, Nancy (Tom) Mohan, Eva (Tony) Garegnani, Deborah Snow, Mary (James) Kennedy; and many extended friends and family.
A visitation will be held on Thur., May 16th from 11-12 noon in Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E Second Street, Duluth, MN.
Interment at the MN Veterans Cemetery.
