Richard “Rick” James Rockensock
“Big Rick” began his Sacred Journey Thursday, June 5th, 2025, at the age of 46. Richard “Rick” Rockensock was a man of immense heart, boundless energy, and a truly unforgettable presence. Known for his sharp sense of humor and playful spirit, Rick had a natural talent for joking and teasing that made everyone around him feel seen, loved, and often laughing.
Rick deeply valued his family and friends, cherishing every moment he spent with them. He had a magnetic personality—bold, outgoing, and full of life. Whether sharing a story or a laugh, Rick’s presence always left a lasting impression.
A proud Anishinaabe/Lakota man, Rick honored his roots with great pride. One of his favorite traditions was camping at the White Earth Powwow each year—a time that brought him connection, joy, and a sense of peace.
Rick was an avid fisherman with countless stories to tell from time spent on the water. He also had a true passion for sports, especially Minnesota teams. A loyal fan of the Minnesota Vikings, he loved watching NFL games, UFC matches, boxing bouts, and any other sporting event that brought people together.
Family was at the center of Rick’s world. He shared a deep and loving bond with his grandparents, Don and Lulu Goodwin, whose presence shaped many of his fondest memories. He held close relationships with his aunts, uncles, and cousins—particularly his aunt Heidi Goodwin and uncle Herman McArthur, with whom he was close in age and spirit.
Above all, Rick cherished his role as a father. His love for his son, Frank, was limitless. Together, they shared countless adventures and joyful moments—playing football, basketball, fishing, wrestling, or simply goofing off. Their time together was always filled with laughter and love.
Rick’s legacy is one of deep connection, vibrant laughter, and unwavering love. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a circle of family and friends who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts.
