Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Hamman

Rebecca Lynn “Becky” Hamman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully in Duluth, Minnesota, on August 27, 2026, at the age of 72.

Becky was born Rebecca Lynn Winters on March 9, 1954, in Pensacola, Florida, to Patsy and Allan Winters Sr. Growing up in a military family, she called many places home, including Florida, California, Michigan, Hawaii and more. She graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with a degree in psychology and later devoted herself to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother.

Becky married Howard Hamman on April 18, 1981, and together they shared 45 years of marriage. Howard was her best friend and partner through all of life, and theirs was a marriage marked by deep love, devotion and a genuine joy in being together. They built a life centered on faith and family and stood faithfully beside one another through all that life brought.

Becky was a loving mother to Luke Hamman, Sarah Brown and her husband Jesse, and Mary MacKenzie and her husband Al, and a loving stepmother to Laura and Mark Hamman. She was the heart of her home and family, creating a place where people felt safe, welcomed and deeply loved. She treasured bringing everyone together for holidays, celebrations and time around the table. Her love extended far beyond her immediate family; she had a way of making people feel like they belonged and loved many as if they were her own children and grandchildren.

Being a grandmother brought Becky tremendous joy. She dearly loved her six grandchildren: Jackson Hamman; Cedar and Beck Brown; and Glenn, Fiona and Zelda MacKenzie; and of course Luke’s cat Mew.

Becky had a creative spirit and loved quilting, crafting, reading and gardening. She found joy in making things beautiful and nurturing the people and things around her.

For more than a decade, Becky faced cancer and significant health challenges with remarkable courage and strength. She fought hard, meeting each new challenge with a fearlessness and resilience that inspired those who loved her.

Above all, Becky was a devoted servant of God. Her Christian faith was at the center of her life — not simply something she believed, but something she lived. She served others through prison ministry, volunteering at the food shelf, supporting a church in Pakistan, and countless quieter acts of generosity and care. Becky sought to be the hands and feet of Christ wherever she could.

Becky is survived by her husband, Howard; her children and stepchildren, Luke, Sarah, Mary, Laura and Mark; her six grandchildren; her brothers, Brad and Allan Winters Jr.; and six nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patricia and Allan Winters Sr.

Becky leaves behind a legacy of faith, courage, resilience and abundant love. She created a family in which people knew they belonged and a life centered on loving God and loving others. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by the many people fortunate enough to have been loved by her.
