Raymond Louis Cayemberg passed away on June 20th at the age of 92. He was born to Felix and Meta (Kranzusch) Cayemberg on June 29, 1933 in Pittsfield, Wisconsin.
Felix and Meta settled in Isabella, Michigan with their 10 children. Ray graduated in a class of 9 from Nahma High School in 1951.
Ray joined the US Army from 1951-1955, where he served in Korea. He attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan, graduating with a degree in Accounting. Ray met Nancy (Bergstrom) Cayemberg at the Marquette roller rink. They married in 1957 and had five children. They moved to Duluth in 1974. He retired from Curtis Oil.
Ray was active in the Catholic Church; the KC’s, and Christians in Commerce in Duluth. He volunteered at the Seafarer’s Center, Meals on Wheels, and the Citizens Patrol to name a few. He loved to camp, fish, play cards, and be with family. He was very handy, fixing most of the family’s cars, lawnmowers, boat motors, and even building a camper that kept the family mostly dry for 26 years before becoming a playhouse for the grandkids.
Ray is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years and his granddaughter, Cora Ann Cayemberg. He is survived by his youngest sister, Lois (Paul); his five children, Dan (Julie), Ed (Martina), Paula, Barb (Bob), and Ronda; 5 of his 6 grandchildren; and 4 great grands.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at St Michael's Catholic Church, 4901 E. Superior St, Duluth with a Visitation beginning at 10:00am followed by a luncheon and ice cream social. Burial at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Saginaw. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to CHUM (chumduluth.org) or your local food shelf.
