Myrna Joy Andrews passed away peacefully on Friday March 5, 2021 at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth. Myrna was born April 23, 1938 to Evelyn and Nels Peterson in Crookston, MN. Myrna attended and graduated from Central High School in Crookston. She attended St. Luke’s Nursing School in Duluth where she completed her Nursing degree in 1959. Myrna married the love of her life Paul Andrews in 1960 and they raised 5 children together.
Myrna was a dedicated nurse working throughout her career at St. Luke’s Hospital, Miller Dwan Hospital, Benedictine Health Center, and Bayshore Health Center until she retired. She had a passion for music, was an avid reader, a talented seamstress and loved to crochet. Spending time with her family was what she enjoyed most. Myrna belonged to the Twelve Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church and was an active member of the Daughters of Penelope and Philoptochos Society.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Paul Andrews. She will be greatly missed by her children, Andy (Sharon) of Cave Creek AZ, Greg (Jan) of Rochester MN, Tricia of Anoka MN, Stephanie (Jerry) Mahrt of Brookfield WI and Tim (Mandy) of Duluth. She is also survived by her devoted sister and brother-in-law Gayle and Tom Greer of Fargo, her brother Jerry Peterson of Crookston MN and her dear sister-in-law, Patricia Patronas-Swor of Duluth. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren Kyle, Kevin, Kate and TJ Andrews, and Rachel and Angela Mahrt. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
VISITATION: Thursday March 11th from 4:00- 7:00 pm, with the Trisagion Service at 7:00 pm at Dougherty Funeral Home. FACIAL MASKS ARE REQUIRED. A private family internment will be held at a later date in Myrna’s hometown of Crookston. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Twelve Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church for the Myrna Andrews Memorial Fund.
