Michaeleen Lucy Kraemer

October 1, 1939 — November 13, 2025

Duluth

Michaeleen “Mickie” Lucy Kraemer passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025 at the age of 86. Michaeleen was born in Spring Green, WI to Cyril and Bernadine Volk. She and her husband Daniel celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on November 7th. Together they had 4 children and in 1975 they started the family business, Kraemer Construction Inc. Mickie was very supportive of her husband and also extremely hardworking. She was a “take care of everything” kind of woman. While a stay at home mom who raised the kids and kept the house in order, Mickie also worked from home for Kraemer Construction. She ran the business’ books the old fashioned way, everything in ledgers and journals. Mickie cared for everyone in the family and was the housekeeper, short order cook, and central hub. If you wanted to know what was going on in the family, you just had to call mom.

The family liked to go up the North Shore and enjoyed fishing and camping. They took trips to Canada, Disney World, and out west to the Grand Canyon on the way to Las Vegas - always in a rented camper. In later years, Mickie and Danny would take trips to Las Vegas and Reno - she was really lucky at the casinos (and otherwise - always winning something!). She loved plants and flowers, and had a beautiful garden. A generous and giving person, Mickie had a strong Catholic faith and, together with Danny, served for many years as ushers at their church. As a lover of animals, in her last few years, she adopted a feral cat that she named Wookers who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Kenneth Volk, Catherine “Sis” Averkamp, Charles Volk, Daniel “Boone” Volk, and Cyril Jr. She is survived by her husband, Daniel; children, Bruce (Chris), Kim (Dean), Daniel Jr., and Stanley (Victoria); grandchildren, Courtney (Mike), Bradley (Cortnee), Kassandra (Troy), Elizabeth (Joe), Eric (Serina), Ryan, and Derek (Jillisa); great-grandchildren, Jorja, Libby, Mike, Noah, and Selah; siblings, Diane Varnadoe and Tamara Meyer; and sisters-in-law Roxann Kraemer and JoAnne Volk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at St. Mary Star of the Sea, 325 E 3rd St, Duluth, MN. The visitation will begin at 10:00 and service at 11:00, with a luncheon to follow.

The family would like to thank the staff at Barnes Care Building 3 in Esko and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care that they provided during this difficult time.
