Michael J. Vatalaro
After a long battle with cancer, Mike passed away on March 29, 2022 at the age of 67. He was preceded in death by his father, Vito. He is survived by wife, Linda; mother, Clara; children, Michael (Angela), Angela, Andrew, Eric (Lisa), Jamie (Ray), Sarah (Joel); grandchildren, Austin, Brianna, Caden, Thomas, Jovanni, Emily, Carter, Jayde, Ayden, Riley, Barron, Easton, Kellen, Ian; his loyal companion, Jossy; and many other family members and friends.
Mike, also affectionately referred to as “The Bug Man” or “Killer”, worked for Plunkett’s pest control for 28 years. Following his “retirement”, he worked part time at the Nemadji Golf course, despite many encouraging him to take it easy. His love for his family was evident. He was the type of Grandpa to insist on playing on the floor with the kids, shooting army men with rubber bands or joining them for a jump in the bounce house. He was also a loyal caretaker for his mother, despite his own medical battles. He loved spending time at the cabin, and through the years enjoyed hunting and fishing. He’ll be remembered for his work ethic, his faith, and his lifelong devotion to helping others navigate their struggles with addiction. He loved history and could beat anyone at trivia on topics related to the Civil War or the Mongolian Empire. Mike was a personable, extrovert, that could hold a conversation with anyone. A Celebration of Life will be held at V.I.P. 1201 Tower Ave, Superior, WI from 1-3 pm on April 16, 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Special thanks to the Oncology Department at Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital for their wonderful care.
