Michael "Mike" Ordun passed away on January 8, 2024, at the age of 73 in Fairfax, Virginia. He was born on May 28, 1950, to Marjorie and Donald Ordun in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was raised in Towson, Maryland. He was a remarkable man who touched the lives of many through his thoughtful nature and infectious sense of humor.
Mike earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland College Park and his master's degree from Northwestern University. In his early career, Mike worked as an engineer at Bell Labs before specializing in network engineering at various corporations. His passion for his work was evident in his commitment and dedication throughout his career.
Outside of his professional life, Mike had a wide range of hobbies that brought him joy and fulfillment. He enjoyed sailing, tinkering with computers, and indulging in his love for model trains. Above all, Mike found immense happiness in making his family laugh and spending quality time with his grandchildren. He was a loving and kind man whose playful spirit and warm heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Joyce; son Andrew (Leah) and grandson Ryan; son Greg (Catherine), granddaughter Charlotte, and grandson Abram; daughter Liz (Ryan) and grandson Micah; sister Cathy (Brooks); brother Steven (Gail); brother David (Gail); and many other loving family members and friends. Mike's love for his family was unwavering, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Funeral services will be held on January 14, 2024, in Duluth, MN. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life either in person or via Zoom.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Mike's name to the Lewy Body Dementia Association. The organization's work in advancing research and supporting individuals affected by this condition aligns with Mike's compassionate nature.
