Matthew C. Marino, 61, of Duluth, passed away on Thursday October 23, 2025, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Van Nuys, CA to William and DeAnna Marino Sr.. Matt married Sandra Holte in Duluth, MN on August 2, 1986 at St. John’s Church.
Matt was a Union Carpenter with Local #361 for most of his life and he had worked in Sales at Northern Tool. Matt enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his friends and family at Stony Point Resort.
He will always be remembered for his goofy sense of humor and quick wit that could make anyone laugh. A true jokester at heart, he brought joy and light to every room he entered. Stubborn in his ways but loyal through and through, he was the kind of man you could always count on. He loved the outdoors — whether he was out fishing, manning the grill as the “grill master,” or hunting for his next trinket to add to his growing collection. With his big dimples and warm smile and wonderful bear hugs, he made friends wherever he went and had a heart of pure gold. He was a loving family man, a devoted friend, and a wonderful husband and father who cherished his family above all else. He lived life fully, with laughter, love, and a spirit that will never be forgotten.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents, sister Claudia Roler, and his brother William “Willie” Marino Jr. Matt is survived by his wife Sandy, daughters Allie (Tyler) Gilberg and Melanie (Jared) Neibauer, grandchildren Wesley, Nellie, Nolan and Kanaan, sister Lisa (Richard) Spiels, brother Rex (Lori) Marino, sister Katherine (Bruce) Pollock, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Matt’s life will be held on Saturday, November 1, from 2pm - 5pm at Foster's Sports Bar and Grill, 4767 W. Arrowhead Rd, Hermantown, MN.
