Mary Janet Lee

Mary Janet Lee, age 96, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. A lifelong Duluth resident, Mary Janet was born on 02/02/1930 to Lillian and Mert Sullivan. After graduating from Denfeld High School she worked for the Welfare Department. She married Olav Lee in 1954 and became a devoted homemaker. Beginning in 1980, she worked for many years as the secretary for Camp Miller and the YMCA.

Mary Janet was a warm and generous spirit with an easy smile and quick wit. She enjoyed reading mystery novels, gardening, dinner with friends and drives up the North Shore. She especially treasured her visits with her grandchildren Bridget and Alec.

Mary Janet is survived by her beloved husband of 72 years, Olav; sons, Chris (Sarah) Lee, Terry (Diane) Lee; daughter, Janet (Kurt) Bobick; grandchildren, Bridget (Matt) Bosnick, Alec (Sarah) Bobick, Stephanie (Mark) Lee-Janson, Nicole (Hugo)Lee Pruvot; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 12pm with memorial service to follow at 1pm on Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Benedictine Living Community Chapel, 935 Kenwood Ave, Duluth, MN.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff and caregivers at the Benedictine Living Community and Essentia Health Hospice for their great care of Mary Janet.
