Mary Ann Hagberg

Mary Ann Hagberg, 89, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022. She was a New Year’s baby, born in Grand Marais to Walter and Lillian Cardinal and lived most of her life in Duluth. Mary was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church. She worked at Target for 20 years before retiring to her true passions: gardening, and her family.

Mary had a love for her family that ran deep and blessed them with many wonderful memories. She and Ken enjoyed traveling the country in their motorhome and boating and fishing closer to home. Mary will always be remembered for her incredible baking and her gorgeous gardens. You never left the Hagberg house without a thoughtful gift and if you were lucky, it was her legendary lemon bars.

She is survived by children Edward Hagberg and Cynthia Ericksmoen, both of Duluth, and Carolyn Hewett of Shoreview, MN; grandchildren Jennifer (Dennis) Juntunen of Apple Valley, MN, Christie Sillanpa of Keystone, CO, Nathan Hewett of Crandon, WI, and Stephanie (Tom) Clairmont of St. Louis Park, MN; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Kenneth.
