Marilyn Amelia Asp

Marilyn A. Asp age 87 of Duluth, died from complication after a fall, while walking with family on June 21, 2025. She left this world as she lived— surrounded by the people she loved, in the beauty of the outdoors. She was born on July 10, 1937 to parents, Herbert and Muriel (Swenson) Gustafson. Born and raised in Duluth, she graduated from Duluth East High School. She continued her education, receiving her bachelor’s degree from Gustavus Adolphus College, and master’s degree from the Luther Seminary. She married the love of her life, Roger Asp, and together they raised their family in the Twin Cities. Marilyn worked as a Visitation Minister at University Lutheran Church of Hope. She also held staff positions and worked with youth at several other churches. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Muriel; husband, Roger; and brother-in-law, Richard Erickson. Marilyn is survived by her children, Jonathan (Michelle) Asp, and Rebecca Asp; grandchildren, Emily (Michael), David, Karl, Kenneth, Angela (Cory), Lauren (Jake), Taylor (Zach); great-grandchildren, Averie, Archer, Fitz, Blaire, Bennett, and Bodie; and sister, Gail Erickson.

Celebration of Life Service Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 219 N, 219 North 6th Ave E, Duluth. Interment at Park Hill Cemetery.
