Marie Sawyer

Marie Ann Sawyer, 84, of Duluth died Sunday July 14, 2019 in Diamond Willow Assisted Living, Lester Park.  She was born in Superior to Fred and Christine Schmit on June 5, 1935.  Marie had worked as a clerk at Glass Block.  She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.  She loved time spent with her family, she was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning, knitting, crocheting, and making homemade jellies and jams.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas, brothers Arnold and Howard Schmit.

She is survived by her children David (Elizabeth), Mark, Robert (Roberta), Nancy Sawyer, Jean (Brian) Glesner, John (Kathryn), and William (Melody), 15 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday July 18, 2019 in Dougherty Funeral Home from 5PM to 7PM and will continue Friday from 10AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Catholic Church.  4901 E. Superior, ST.
