Lillian was a proud Leech Lake descendant who walked in the ways of the Ojibwe, carrying her culture with strength and love. She was a water protector at Camp Migizi and found connection through hand drumming, song, and community. She especially admired the hand drumming of her close friend Timmy Morgan and held great respect for the group Cedar Creek and Ian (Nigigoons).
She loved fiercely and unconditionally, always showing kindness and loyalty to those around her. At the center of her heart was her son, Misko Benesi, her greatest love and legacy. She is also remembered by his father Jeffery, her special friend Sage Morgan, and her Lifehouse family.
Lily is survived by her mother, Camielle “Cookie” Parent (Henry Remer); Chad Baber; grandmother Gisele Campbell; siblings Donovan “Niizhgaabo” Holmes and Arthur; aunts and uncles Taysha KillsEnemy, Georgia Garret, Marshall KillsEnemy, and Jason Goward; and many loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Judy Kay Brown and Gordon Brown; maternal grandfathers Delmar Campbell and Bradley Jay Holmes; great-grandfather Arthur; and her therapist, Evan, who was a deeply important presence in her life and supported her through many things she carried quietly.

Burial at Park Hill Cemetery.
Lillian walks ahead of us now,
on a path our eyes cannot yet see.
The fire is lit for her,
and the ancestors are waiting, calling her home. She is coming, she is coming.
She follows the light of the spirit fire,
guided by prayers, by song, by love.
She is not alone—
she is wrapped in the arms of those who came before her.
We will feel her in the wind off Gichigami,
in the quiet moments at dawn,
in the laughter and spirit of her son, Misko—
her greatest love, her heart walking in this world.
Though her time here was short,
her spirit was strong,
and the love she gave will carry on
through all of us who were blessed to know her.
Do not say she is gone.
Say she has returned to the circle.
Miigwetch, Lily,
for your love, your strength, your spirit.
We will carry you with us
until we meet again on that path.
