Kenneth George Weber

May 14, 1922 — November 23, 2023

Duluth

Long time Duluth resident, passed away on Thanksgiving, November 23, 2023 at age 101 at Edgewood Vista. Ken was born to Ernest and Alma (Washnesky) Weber on May 14, 1922. At age 6 he moved to the family farm in Wrenshall and graduated from Wrenshall High School. After several years working on the farm he moved to Duluth where he met his future wife, Virginia Palmer, where they both worked at Griggs, Cooper and Co. Ken and Virginia had two children and were married over 57 years, until her death in 2005. Ken worked for many years as a member of the Retail Clerks Union, retiring from London Road Liquor. After raising their family in the Lester Park area, Ken and Ginny traveled extensively throughout the country to fulfill Ken’s passion for driving and seeing new places. Ken was a spirited fan of Minnesota Sports teams, especially the Twins, Vikings and Timberwolves. Other favorite activities include: league bowling, daily coffee with the boys at Bulldog, and family get togethers.
Ken’s extraordinary gift was his musical talent. He could play any instrument by ear without ever taking a lesson. He was a band member of the Lincoln Park Ramblers and Melody Makers and used this talent to entertain audiences from small children to senior care facilities.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia; and brother, Harold. He is survived by his son, Allan, Brooklyn Park; daughter, Nancy (Rick) Sall, Duluth; grandchildren, Teresa, Eric, Kristen and Brian Weber, Heather (Ryan) Carey and Chris (Katie) Sall; and 12 great-grandchildren; god-daughter, Judy Kaiser; nieces and nephews, and special friend, Henry Person. A special thank you to all the compassionate staff who cared for Ken over the past eight years at Edgewood Vista. A Private Celebration of Life will be held. If desired, memorials preferred to Lakeside Presbyterian Church.
