Joyce Marie Turkall

Joyce Turkall passed away peacefully after a brave battle with Alzheimer's at Diamond Willow in Proctor, MN on Thursday, October 22nd, 2026 with her daughters by her side. She was 69 years old.

Joyce was born on November 13th, 1956 to Dale and Barbara (Heisz) Tyo in Duluth, MN. She was joined in marriage to Paul Turkall on June 5th, 1987 after welcoming two daughters, Heather and Bridget. She retired from Cub Foods in 2023 after 14 years of service. She was a die-hard Minnesota Wild and Twins fan, rarely missing a game on TV. She loved spending time at the slots at Black Bear Casino. Above all else, she was a devoted grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Barbara, and brothers-in-law Ronald, Tom and Dave.

She is survived by her husband Paul, daughters Heather (Scott) Garrick, and Bridget (Mitch) Westberg, grandchildren Spencer, Colton, Kendall, Reid and Jada, sisters Nancy and Carol, brothers Mike and David and beloved dog Hunny.

Per Joyce's request, there will be no funeral. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the staff at Diamond Willow, Sara McCumber of Essentia Health Neurology, and have the utmost gratitude for Gentiva Hospice for the care they provided Joyce in her final months.
