John Anthony Pickar

October 3, 1963 — October 14, 2025

Duluth

John A. Pickar was born on October 3, 1963 in Duluth, Minnesota and passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2025 at the age of 62.

John was a graduate of East High School in Duluth and earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts at UMD. He worked for Great Lakes Office Solutions and was an active member of the Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Pickar. John is survived by his mother, Peg Pickar; his siblings, Christine Beck, Bruce (Amber) Pickar, and Andrew (Kate) Pickar; and his nieces and nephews, Joshua (Desiree) Butler, Arelle Kauffman, Danyell (Andrew) Cameron, Josie Pickar, Elise Pickar, and Frances Pickar.

John’s faith was very important to him. He loved snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing and especially cherished time spent with friends every fishing opener. His time at the deer shack in Finland was particularly special—filled with four-handed cribbage, saunas, and quiet hours in the deer stand reflecting on life or waiting for that trophy buck.

An avid collector of old beer cans and memorabilia, John was a proud member of the Beer Can Collectors of America. He will be dearly missed by his family and countless friends. John made a friend everywhere he went and could light up any room with his humor. He went out of his way to help others and was a wonderful conversationalist who genuinely cared for everyone he met.

A Celebration of John's life will be at a later date.
