Gertrude (Trudy) Ann Peplinski, 87, of Duluth, died Jan. 21, 2012, in her home.Trudy was born Feb. 23, 1924, in Duluth, to Nicholas and Bertha (Giesen) Faustich. She graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1941 and also attended Duluth Business University. Trudy married the love of her life and best dance partner, Raymond Francis Peplinski, Jan. 19, 1946, in Duluth. She worked at the Duluth Public Library and in the City of Duluth Treasurers Office.After Rays death in 1975, Trudy moved to the Twin Cities and worked at the University of Minnesota Deans Office, College of Agriculture, St. Paul campus, until her retirement in 1989 when she moved back to Duluth.Trudy was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and a past member of the Rosary Society, St. Mary Star of the Sea and was a volunteer at SMDC Hospice, Meals-on-Wheels and Habitat for Humanity.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond; brothers Nicholas Faustich and Conrad Faustich; and great-grandson Christopher Peplinski II.Trudy is survived by her son, Michael (Diane) of Duluth; daughters Mary (Dexter) Marston of Golden Valley, Minn., and Linda Peplinski of Duluth; grandchildren Christopher (Chrissy) Peplinski, Daniel (fianc? Jaci) Peplinski, Jody Roff, John Marston, Paul Marston and Peter Wehseler; great-grandson Cooper Peplinski; her sister, Betty (Warren) Bonham, of Hermantown; and special friend Don Shier of Coon Rapids, Minn.A special thank you to Nurses That Care and St. Lukes hospice for their care and love for our mother.Trudy enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her cat, hiking, cross-country skiing, roller blading and playing cards. She will be remembered for her adventurous, generous and independent spirit.VISITATION: 5-8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary Monday, Jan. 23, in Dougherty Funeral Home and 10 until the 11 a. m. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, Jan. 24, in St. Michaels Catholic Church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Michaels Lakeside School or donors choice.Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home 600 E. Second St., 727-3555.
