Gerald Martin "Jerry" Ortt

Sep 5, 0060 — Aug 6, 2026

Gerald Martin Ortt (Jerry), age 65, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026 after a long illness, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and will cherish the memories they shared with him.

Jerry was born in St. Paul, MN on September 5, 1960, to Gerald and Barbara (Boyer) Ortt . He was a quiet and gentle man whose caring nature touched everyone who knew him. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, spending peaceful days fishing and most importantly, being with his family.

Jerry graduated from Brainerd Senior High School and served in the Army after high school. He worked as a meat cutter, worked at Sears, Goodwill and Perkins. In his later years he faced a courageous hard-fought battle with declining health before passing away.

He is survived by his four loving sisters: Deborah Boileau (David), Linda Weber (Greg), Gayle McMinn (John) and Carolyn Koglin (Randy). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, and enjoyed watching grow into adulthood. His family will always remember his gentle spirit, quiet smile and more.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers-Robert and Douglas Ortt.

Gerald’s kindness, humility, and love for his family will never be forgotten. While his absence leaves a profound void, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace knowing he was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Our family wishes are to send a special thank you for the exceptional care, kindness and support shown to Jerry by the staff of St. Lukes (Aspirus) Hospital, the ICU team and Keystone Bluff Assisted Living staff.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the VEXAS Foundation at (vexas.org).
