George Carl Couture

George Couture of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on October 21,2026 at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living at the age of 83. Born on February 25, 1943, in Duluth, Minnesota to George and Helen Couture.

George lived his whole life in Duluth, graduating from Cathedral High School in 1961, 4 years after meeting the love of his life, Judy, at age 14. They have been together ever since. After high school, George went into the National Guard for 4 years before finding one of his true passions in life, The television business. His career began at Channel 3 and continued for the next 50 years at WDIO, the last 26 as the General Manager.

George passed on his love for hunting, fishing, and everything Italian, to his granddaughters who loved to shoot clay pigeons with him and his family who loved learning his trade secrets to his famous homemade Italian sausage in the kitchen, just as much as he loved teaching them. His favorite printable saying was Mangia, Mangia!!

Being a part of several shooting clubs, the Northwestern Gun Club, United Northern Sportsman, and shooting for Contract Tile and Carpet in the Courage shoot, along with many awards, were highlights of his love of the outdoors and friends. Hunting trips to the Dakotas to hunt bird was a fall ritual for him.

George was preceded in death by his parents.

George will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Judy; children, Craig (Nancy) Couture and Gina Couture; grandchildren, Emily (Silas) Myrick, and Melissa (Ace) Coors; and siblings, Carmen, Candy, Liz, and Peter (Duane), and many other beloved extended family members.

A private family burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
