Gary Michael Johnson

Gary Michael Johnson, age 88 of Duluth died on August 4, 2026. A lifelong Duluthian, he was born on May 19, 1938 to parents, Walter and Edna (Nelson) Johnson. He graduated from Duluth East High School in 1956 and continued his education at the University of Minnesota – Duluth, earning a BA and BS. Gary then enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for 5 years and earned the rank of Captain. He moved home and worked as a personnel supervisor for the United States Forest Service. Gary is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Ward Johnson.

A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Forest Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
