Frances Emily Fischer Lanyk of Meadowlands MN, died peacefully at home on March 13, 2024 at age 105. Frances, most often called Grandma (GG, Gram), Mom, Frannie, Emma and Auntie Em, was born on April 27, 1918 to Albert and Sarah Fischer.
Frances had a full life. We heard stories of her childhood, being raised in Iron Junction, MN. On August 19, 1937 she married John Lanyk, and raised her 4 children in Zim MN. As a widow, she lived in Virginia MN, Kelsey MN, Solon Springs WI, and finally Meadowlands MN. Frances helped others with her nursing skills, working in a private home in the 1970's, and taking care of her in-laws, Tony and Mary Lanyk, in her home. She cherished her family, and prayed for each one. She was known for being hospitable, welcoming and feeding friends, both old and new, as family. Frances helped many with her mechanical skills (if you needed a tool, she had it), and she might also speak up with frank counsel (receivers of such will remember this). As one of Jehovah's Witnesses for 82 years, she shared the Bible message of hope with others. Frances will have the joy of waking up to a paradise earth, free of sickness, death, wars and poverty, in the future.
Frances is survived by daughters Marianna Milfaith and Betty (Al) Klein of Meadowlands; grandchildren Beth (Dan) Anderson, Meadowlands; Brenda (Jeff, deceased) Johnson, Kelsey; Jon Lanyk, Zim; Jody Grosek, Texas; Jamie (Mark) Isaacson, Eveleth; Robyn (Leon) Nelson, Wisconsin; Laurene Knoche, Michigan; daughter-in-law Gail Lanyk, Forbes; 16 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces, grand- nephews and nieces, and very precious friends.
