Gerogeorge, Evdoxia, age 90, formerly of Duluth, passed away July 1, 2025, in Edina, MN. She was born May 23, 1935, to Steve and Chrysanthe Kontonikos. Evdoxia graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1953 and from the University of Minnesota- Duluth with a degree in Elementary Education in 1957. She met her husband, George, during one of her trips to Greece where they were set up by a mutual friend. They were married in Greece in December 1960 and came back to Duluth in February 1961. They moved to Edina in 2021 to be closer to their children and their families. Evdoxia loved teaching and when she retired in 1995, she kept on “subbing”. Teaching was her passion, and she loved each and every one student as if they were one of her own children. She was a lifelong parishioner of Twelve Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church where she was a member of Ladies Philoptohos Society. She was also a member of St Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church in Minneapolis. She was a member of the Daughters of Penelope and was previously on the AHEPA Educational Foundation Board of Directors. She and George established a scholarship fund for those who are seeking a degree in Elementary Education. She enjoyed volunteering at Glensheen Mansion and Ecumen Lakeshore. She and George enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Wisconsin and in their retirement years, they traveled to many different parts of the world, including annual trips to Mexico and Greece. Evdoxia was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary teachers’ sorority and belonged to Altrusa Club of Duluth. In 2010, she was the recipient of the Northland’s Newscenter Women In Leadership for the Twin Ports award.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, George, her son John (Marigo), daughter Esme (Dave) Harty, grandchildren, Aristides, Ana (Nick), Nicole (Max) and George, as well as 2 great grandchildren, Brantley and Peyton. She is also survived by numerous Godchildren and many wonderful friends.
