With quiet grace and a spirit that never dimmed, Saya Kovich passed away peacefully at the age of 96, leaving behind the warmth she shared with all who knew her.
Born in 1929, Saya lived a life defined by timeless grace, quick wit, and boundless generosity. A devoted member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, she was baptized, married, and remained deeply involved in church choir and parish life for nearly a century. She proudly served as Vice President of the Circle of Serbian Sisters. Faith was the gentle rhythm that guided her every day, and her unwavering dedication brought comfort and inspiration to all.
Saya’s pride in her Serbian heritage shone brightly in the traditions she cherished, the holidays she celebrated, and most especially in her kitchen. She poured love into every batch of Serbian pastries and savory dishes, sharing them generously as her heartfelt way of showing care and bringing people together.
She had a special love for children and served as a devoted Sunday School teacher at St. George for many years, nurturing young hearts with patience, wisdom, and warmth. She was also a cherished Godmother to many in the parish, sharing her gentle guidance and leaving a lasting imprint on generations.
Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Nick and Julia Colich, and her husband of 49 years, Eli “Corky” Kovich, Saya is lovingly remembered by her children: daughters Niki Kovich Polani (Ralph) and Milana Kovich Coppert (Michael), son Joseph “Joe” Kovich (Alicia), and her cherished grandchildren Jordan Coppert, Eli Kovich, and Elle Kovich. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends whose lives she touched so deeply.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 1216 104th Ave West, with the funeral beginning at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the burial in the church hall.
The family kindly requests donations in Saya’s name to St. George Serbian Orthodox Church. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Viewcrest Health Center and Moments Hospice for the wonderful care and friendship they brought to her life.
Saya will be deeply missed and forever loved.
