David Lawrence Aho, age 69 of Duluth died on October 13, 2026. He was born in Cloquet, MN on August 14, 1957 to parents, Matthew and Yoshiko (Ando) Aho. Much of his youth was spent with his cousins on the family homestead in Mahtowa, Minnesota. These early experiences nurtured a willingness to think for himself, and a desire to live life on his own terms. After attending Duluth Central High School, Dave enlisted in the Air Force where he proudly served his country for 8 years.
He had a generous heart and a way of giving to others without hesitation, often putting the needs of others before his own. Dave was quick to offer praise and encouragement, sometimes seeing the best in people even when others might not. His affection was genuine, his passion ran deep, and his empathy allowed him to connect with people in a way that was uniquely his own.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Dave is survived by his siblings, Phillip (Gail) Aho, Janis (Al Heikes) Aho, and Richard (Nancy) Aho; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st at 11:00 a.m. in Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E Second Street. Interment at the MN State Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Duluth Honor Guard.
