Daniel Bruce Campbell, age 74 of Duluth died on June 27, 2026 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Joliet, IL on July 23, 1951 to parents, Howard and Faye (Pierard) Campbell. Dan enjoyed growing up on their family farm with his younger siblings.
After receiving his MD from Southern Illinois School of Medicine, he moved to Wisconsin, where he met his future wife, Mary Boehm. They were married on August 18, 1984, and laid down roots in Duluth, where they raised their children, Lara, Jack and Maggie. Dan worked as an ER Physician at St. Mary’s for a majority of his career before retiring from St. Luke’s Urgent Care.
Dan felt strongly about doing what was right. He volunteered at the free clinic in West Duluth, helped others in the community exercise their right to vote and opened his home alongside his wife to foster 25 infants. Countless lives were touched by his compassion.
One of Dan’s greatest joys was spending family time at the cabin. The highlight of his retirement was playing with his grandchildren.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carri Campbell; brothers-in-law, Randy Wilkey and Tony Boehm; sister-in-law, Michelle Boehm; nephew, Seth Wilkey; and niece, Anne Koeller.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Lara (Eric) Montgomery, Jack (Emily) Campbell, and Maggie Campbell; grandchildren, Rory, Alfie and Benji Montgomery; siblings, Mike (Debbie) Campbell, Mark Campbell, Linda Tira, and Nancy Wilkey; siblings-in-law, Stefanie (Connie Fletcher) Koeller, Joe Boehm, and Jim (Karen) Boehm; and several nieces and nephews.
