Dale Walter Claus

Dale Walter Claus, 96, of Hermantown, died Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in his home. Dale was born March 23, 1930, in Duluth to Walter and Josephine “Tootsie” Claus. He attended Duluth Central High School. Dale married Mary Amys on September 24, 1955. He served in the 73rd Air Base Squadron as part of the Refueling Unit. He was a civilian employee working in the Heating Plant at the Air Force Base in Duluth, retiring in 1984. He loved the outdoors and was a member of the Arrowhead Hunting Lodge since 1948. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his flower/vegetable gardens and watching wildlife in his backyard. Most of all he cherished time with his Family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Josephine, wife Mary, and his brother Jim.

Dale is survived by his children, Kevin (Cindy) Claus and their children, Kyle (Katie Jackman) Claus, Lindsey (Andy) Beier and Levi (Andie) Bordes; Karen (Dave) Tracey and their children, Jason (Nicole) Tracey, Justin Tracey and Tammy Tracey; Lori (Dave) Nelson and their daughter, Jessica (Jonathan) Reznick. Great-grandchildren Lily, Caden, Corban, Crosby, Margaux, Rory, Teagan, Emily, Beau, Arianna, Athena, Alice, Charlie and Marcella, sisters-in law, Julie Carlson and Sue Claus and special friends, Debbie and Scott Massie.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 15th from 5-7 pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home, where visitation will continue Thursday, July 16th starting at 10 am with services at 11 am. Burial at Sunrise Memorial Park.
