Burton J. "Burt" Schweiger, 87 of Duluth, died Thursday, Dec. 30,2021 in Essentia St. Mary's with his family by his side. Burt was born Nov. 5,1934, in Duluth to Burton and Ellen Schweiger. He graduated from Central High School, class of 1953, and went on to serve in the Seabees in the US Navy. He returned to Duluth and married Elinor Haugen on Sept. 29,1956. Burt work as a Pipefitter Steamfitter for many area contractors and owned Old Vermilion Trail Hunting and Shooting Preserve. He was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, Lakeside/Lake Superior Lodge #349, and the Scottish Rite Bodies of Duluth, Pipefitters Local 11, NRA and Northwestern Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, his labs, socializing and spending time at the farm and cabin with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Ellen and his wife, Elinor.

Burt is survived by his children, Burt, John, Brian (Mickie), Diane (Sam) Tumminello and Chris;

Grandchildren, Sydney, Anthony, Andrea and Logan. Great grandchildren, Ashton and Ava. His sister Pat Beutner, nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of Burt's life will be held on July 30, 2022 at 11:00am at the Old Vermilion Trail Hunting and Shooting Preserve 6980 Old Vermillion Trail, Duluth MN, Burt’s family is hosting a lunch after the service and people can come and tell “Burt” stories until 5:00pm. Memorials are preferred and may be directed to, Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 4430 McCulloch St., Duluth, MN 55802. Sign the online register book at, www.dfhduluth.com.
