Bruce Potter Hedlund, “Bruce the Moose” of St Louis Park and Duluth, MN passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at age 91 in the company of his family. Born July 7, 1933, Bruce lived a life filled with love, adventure, & dedication. He attended Duluth Central High School, graduating in 1951, earned his mechanical & industrial engineering degree from the University of MN in 1956 & was hired by 3-M & soon after pursued a career as a manufacturer’s representative. Bruce demonstrated remarkable commitment to excellence. His laugh with its excitement jump was contagious & remembered by all who knew him. Bruce was a passionate fan of the MN Vikings, MN Gophers, & the Twins. He loved coaching baseball, golfing, fishing off the dock, & downhill skiing. Most importantly, Bruce was a devoted father, grandfather, & great grandfather. He was everyone’s biggest cheerleader!
Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, Art & Vesta (Potter) Hedlund & brother-in-law, Sonny Reinkall. Bruce is survived of his wife of 66 years, Hannah Rae; sons, Scott & spouse, Cindy, and Gregg & spouse Ann; daughter, Lisa (Strahan) & spouse, Paul; grandchildren, Preston Hedlund (Alli), Kaitlin, Alena, Nolan, Lindsay Strahan, Andrew & Kevin Hedlund; great grandsons, Liam & Theo Hedlund; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Mary & Lew Lampert; cousin, JoAnne Wilson; niece, Elizabeth (David) Nirenstein; nephew, Mark (Renee) Lampert; and many other beloved family & dear friends.
Bruce’s family extends their heartfelt thank you to Ecumen Lakeshore & Ecumen Hospice for their care & love for Bruce.
The Visitation will be held at Ecumen Lakeshore Chapel 4002 London Rd Duluth on Saturday, August 3 at 11:00 am & Celebration of Life memorial service at 11:30 am followed by lunch in the Fireside Room. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to First United Methodist Church (The Coppertop) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
