He retired as a Petty Officer 2nd Class. Brian was an avid runner, especially fond of trail running and ultras. During his lifetime he completed well over 100 races, marathons, and ultra-marathons. Another much-loved hobby was indoor rock climbing with his wife, Mila. Brian always kept moving and practiced a healthy lifestyle but most dear to his heart was his faith. He appreciated sending and receiving prayers with people from all walks of life. One of his favorite places to worship was the Lakeside Chapel near his home on Little Pequaywan Lake.

Brian asked for everyone to be joyous when we think of him and always look on the bright side of life. We will deeply miss his quirky sense of humor, unconventional yet wholehearted advice, his smile and his hugs.

Per his wishes, a celebration of life will follow in the Duluth area Summer 2022.
