Barbara Johnson

Barbara L. Johnson, 87, passed away in St. Lukes Hospice with her loving family at her side.Barbara was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Duluth, to Rick and Ruth Carlson. She married her sweetheart, Jim Johnson, on Sept. 18, 1943. Barbara was a 1942 Graduate of dear old Central High School, whose class still meets for reunions. She enjoyed many years of working at Glass Block and the old Orecks Department stores.Her favorite things in life besides her family was taking road trips with her son, Paul, and sitting around the camp fire at their cabin at Island Lake. Her smile and beautiful blue eyes will be remembered by all who knew her.She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Cash) Johnson; and her first born, Michael James.She is survived by son Steve (Carole) Johnson of Denver, Colo.; daughter Carol (Craig) Carlson of Duluth; son Paul Johnson of Grand Rapids; daughter-in-law Maureen Johnson of Austin, Texas; sisters Bev (James) Anderson and Joan (John) Sjogren, both of Duluth; grandchildren Tracey Ippolite of Austin, Texas, Debbie (Chad) Miner of Austin, Jeremy (Jenni) Carlson of Duluth, Katie (Ben) Zapp of Golden, Colo., and Jesse Carlson of Duluth; great-grandchildren Suzanne Ippolite of Austin, Chase Michael Miner of Austin, Jackson and Anthony Carlson of Duluth.The family would like to thank the wonderful care givers at Franciscan Health Center and Dr. Krisa Christian for all their help and concern.VISITATION: 1 p.m. Wednesday until the 2 p.m. Celebration of Life at Glen Avon Presbyterian Church.Memorials are preferred and may be directed to the American Heart Association, 130 W.
