Alverna “Dolly” Marzillo Hable, 81 of Duluth, Cotton, and Cloquet, died Tuesday June 9th peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital. Dolly was born May 22, 1939, in Duluth to Albert and Mary Marzillo, and grew up near Raleigh Street in West Duluth, graduating from Duluth Denfeld in 1957. She met Rudy Hable, and on September 29th, 1962, they were married at Good Shepherd Church. They had a wonderful marriage of 58 years. She worked as an Executive Assistant at Minnesota Power until her retirement. Upon retiring she and Rudy enjoyed many years of living in their lake home that they built on Long Lake in Cotton, MN.
Dolly had many memorable trips with Rudy and her daughters camping, fishing, and downhill skiing in Colorado. She enjoyed gardening and quilting, handmaking many quilts for her grandchildren that will be treasured. Dolly was an excellent baker and cook, passing down many recipes from her Italian heritage to her daughters and grandchildren. Dolly was a Vikings fan and she and Rudy watched every game together, reveling in the victories and anguishing in the defeats and their inability to win it all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mary; brother, John Marzillo, and sisters, Grace Pike, Lorraine Bryce, and Carmen Eddy. Dolly is survived by her loving husband, Rudy; daughters, Mary Hable (Jim Heppelmann), Patricia Hable, and Kathy (Mike) Tusken; grandchildren, Abigail Heppelmann and Matthew, Joseph, and Kate Tusken; sister, Mary Lou Tyo, and sisters-in-law, Grace Hable and Rose (Jim) Anderson.

Visitation will begin Monday June 15th at 10:00am with services at 11:00am at in the Dougherty Funeral Home. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
