Aletheia Joy Elizabeth Gould went home to the Lord on March 12, 2026. She was born on February 24, 2013, and the name Joy was a perfect harbinger for the next 13 years. Though Aletheia's life on earth was brief, she brought endless joy to anyone lucky enough to experience her smile and to all those she loved.
Aletheia’s mind and her spirit soared far beyond the limitations imposed by her cerebral palsy. She valued a positive outlook and counted her blessings. Umexpectedly breaking through the barriers of being non-verbal, Aletheia learned to communicate and express herself in her own words, using a tactile version of Morse code by touching her mother's hand with her nose and forehead. The fascinating world of learning this opened up for her was endless and multifaceted! She adored anything that had to do with math or science, she studied eight languages with her mom, and advised her dad on designing his computer servers. Aletheia was enraptured by listening to mystery books, and she also fondly dreamed of working on the International Space Station one day...and she probably would have taken her Squishmallow collection along!
More remarkable than her intelligence and fun-loving personality was her heart. She possessed a profound compassion for others and a deep love for God. After she committed her life to Him, she never waivered.
She is survived by her loving parents, Brian and Mary Gould; her loyal side-kick, Larry the stuffed axolotl; maternal grandparents, Randal and Carol Givens; paternal grandparents, Richard Gould and Ruth Gould; aunts and uncles—Anna Givens, Heather Gould, Brent and Stephanie Gould, Matt and Kim Wagner; as well as many cousins, extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, March 17th at 2:00 pm with a visitation beginning at 1:00 pm at the Hawk Ridge Church of Christ. The family would like to invite everyone to share a meal (Dutch treat) at Pizza Ranch following the service. Aletheia's parents ask that, in lieu of flowers, friends donate a Squishmallow to their local children’s hospital.
