R. David Wick died peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 4, 2019. He was born July 18, 1938 to Harold and Agnes Wick in Duluth MN. David graduated from East High School in 1956. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy having served his duty at sea in the Pacific Far East.
David was a lifelong Duluth resident. David and Janet lived in Sarasota, FL. in the winter and at the cabin in Iron River, WI during the summer.
David started Guardian Pest Solution in 1966. He also owned The Pawn Broker on E. Fourth Street. He retired in 2001 and turned Guardian over to his sons. He was extremely proud of how they have grown the family business. He loved to work and be involved in the action of the business world. He loved the challenges. David could never get use to not working and always had projects either in mind, on the planning board or in the process of development or construction.

Dave fought heart disease, anal melanoma, diabetes and survived them all for many years. His answer to a long life was when God wants me, he’ll take me. He felt blessed by God to have lived a long happy productive life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard (Doris), Stanley (Lucille), sister Maron La Fortune (Edward), father and mother in-law Kenneth and Viola Severson, brother in-law Donald Halvorson.
