Patricia Ann (Kelly) TalyFebruary 20, 1952 ~ November 17, 2017 (age 65)
Patricia Ann Taly, 65, of Duluth, died Friday, November 17, 2017 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born February 20, 1952 in Minneapolis to Helen S. (Jergenson) and John E. Kelly.
Pat loved life and loved her family. She has been described as a true lady, a person with a quirky sense of humor (including a fondness for puns), a world traveler and a lifelong learner. She had varied interests and talents, her red velvet cake and Christmas lasagna chief amongst them.
Pat was creative in her expressions of love. She wanted everyone to succeed even if she had to offer a “better” card from her hand or a hint while playing Trivial Pursuit.
Pat loved the stars, sunrises and Lake Superior. She was sporty too, enjoying running, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, kayaking and golf. She loved the fine arts and regularly attended museums, concerts, and theater productions. The young people in her life could always count on her to be in the audience for their special performances.
Pat was a graduate of Duluth East High School in 1970. She married Eugene Taly in 1974. Together they raised three children. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the College of St. Scholastica in 1987. Pat retired this past January after a career spanning 29 years as a Medical Technologist for Essentia Health - St. Mary's Medical Center. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Eugene on June 19, 2004. She is survived by her daughter Jessica (Shane) Hehir, her sons Jeff Taly and Jason (Rachel Watson) Taly, all of Duluth; her beautiful grandchildren; her sisters Kathy (John Driscoll) Kelly of Edina, JoAnn (Will) Mattson of Duluth and Deb (Paul) Kellner of Duluth; her brother-in-law Henry (Mary Lynum) Taly of Minneapolis; her dear companion Daryl Carlson of Duluth; and her loving nieces and nephews.
