Linda Ross Sellner, age 64, of Duluth died October 4, 2018 from complications of a brain tumor. Linda was born on Aug 7, 1954 to James and Margaret Ross. She attended Holy Rosary grade school and Duluth Cathedral High School, graduating in 1972. Linda was accepted into the Dental Hygiene program at the University of Minnesota Duluth and graduated with an Associate in Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 1976. She practiced Dental Hygiene for over 40 years. She would later return to UMD to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Geological Sciences, graduating in 1996. Her second degree in Geology enabled her to pursue volunteerism and public service related to environmental and land use issues. She worked as a volunteer with the National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in completing the most recent soil survey for South St. Louis County. She served on the City of Duluth’s Environmental Advisory Council which furthered her passion for preserving green space and the natural environment. Linda was involved in environmental issues mostly at the local and regional levels, however, she did run for St. Louis County Commissioner in 2016, which gave her an opportunity to express her concern for the integrity of the environment in the public forum. Linda married Dale Sellner in 1980 and they raised four daughters over the next twenty years together.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret Ross.
Linda is survived by her daughters Andrea (Chris) Blauert of Farmington, MN, Julia (Robert) Lodge of Minneapolis, MN, Mary Beth Sellner of Duluth, MN, and Laura Sellner of Duluth, MN; her grandchildren, Murphy, Theodore, and Margaret Blauert; her sisters Dyanne (Lynn) Hanson and Laureen (Kevin) McCalib; and her brothers David (Kaytee) Ross, James (Sue) Ross, and Larry (Marci) Ross.
