Ann Bailey (Kimbrough) Ringsred

March 12, 1926 ~ October 23, 2017 (age 91)

Ann Bailey Ringsred, age 91, of Duluth, died Monday, October 23, 2017, at the Marywood in the Benedictine Center, of cancer surrounded by her loving family.

It has been a long and courageous journey for her, but she handled her illness with grace, courage, dignity and love.    She was born on March 12, 1926, in Kettle Island, Kentucky, to Henry and Bessie Bailey and was later adopted by Thomas and Frances Kimbrough.  She married John Ringsred, Veteran of WWII, in 2005 in Duluth.  Ann grew up and attended college in Kentucky.  Ann had a heart of gold and a smile for everyone she met.  She loved animals and flowers and the simple things in life.  One of the biggest joys in her life was becoming reacquainted with John Ringsred, her sweetheart from the WWII years, and marrying him in 2005.  They spent many nights jitterbugging the nights away in Florida before they moved back to Duluth.  Ann cherished the time she spent with her family in Duluth and Kentucky and at the cabin on Pequaywan Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Richard Taylor; brothers and sisters, Gertrude Browning, Floyd Bailey, Rufus Ray Bailey, Betty Ruth Fulvio; half-sister, Lucille; Dunlap and half-brother,  Desmond Simpson.

Ann is survived by her husband, John Ringsred of Duluth; children,  Richard Taylor of Delray Beach, Florida and Dyan Taylor of Dublin, California; step-children, Dr. Eric (Debbie) Ringsred of Duluth, Dr. Karen (Dr. Rick Manka) Ringsred of St. Paul, Leif (Jan Hille) Ringsred  of Duluth, Chris (Sally) Ringsred of Duluth and Ted (Tonya Cornelius) Ringsred of Minneapolis; two half-brothers,  Donald Simpson and Gerald Simpson of Kentucky; half-sister,  Delores June Taylor of Ohio; step-grandchildren,  former Olympian Anna (Tad) Ringsred-Beavers of Vancouver, Brittish Columbia, Miles Ringsred of Duluth,  Odin Ringsred of Bellingham, Washington,  Anders Ringsred of Duluth, Corbin Ringsred of Duluth, Miranda Baldwin of Mankato and Fox Ringsred of Minneapolis; her special niece, Vicky Pike,  of Columbia, Kentucky; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. 2nd St., Duluth, MN, on Saturday, October 28, 2017, with visitation at 1:30 PM and the service at 2:00 PM.  Burial at Park Hill Cemetery will follow the service.
