Dale J. Ebel

April 27, 1952 ~ June 17, 2017 (age 65)

Dale J. Ebel, 65 of Duluth, passed away from a motorcycle accident in LaCrosse, WI, Saturday, June 17, 2017.

Dale was born April 27, 1952, in Wyoming, MN.  He served in the Air Force Reserves as a jet mechanic.  He then moved on to become a State of Minnesota Game Warden.  He was a passionate educator of firearm and snowmobile safety.  He retired from his dream job after 22 years of service.  After he retired from the DNR, he enjoyed working for Arrowhead Juvenile Center for the past 10 years.

Dale was a loving husband, father, papa, brother, uncle and friend.  He almost loved his motorcycle more than his family, almost...  He was looked up to by all; being 6’5”, it came naturally.

Dale spoiled his girls at every opportunity.  He loved spending time with his granddaughters, who were his pride and joy.  Dale was an avid outdoorsman – hunting, fishing and trapping throughout his life.  One of his favorite times of year was deer hunting with his daughters and son-in-law.  He enjoyed riding motorcycle with his wife, Deb, and the vast Boss Hoss community.  He was a big gambler, betting anything from foot rubs to quarters per game of cribbage.  He was a turkey leg connoisseur, going as far as to smoke them at home.  Dale had a great sense of humor, loved giving everyone a hard time and had a heart of gold.  He will be forever missed.

Dale was preceded in death by: his parents, Joseph and Emma Ebel; brothers, Gordy Ebel and James Banta; nephews, Joe Ebel and Bruce Ebel; mother-in-law, Arlyne Berg.

Dale is survived by: his wife, Debra (Berg); daughters, Erin (Jamie Schwellenbach), Jessica Williams and Cortney; granddaughters, Amelia & Natalie; brothers, Ken Ebel (Shirley Welch) and Donald (Sandy) Banta; sister, Gloria (Harold) Pedersen; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Ebel; father-in-law, Henry Berg; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 22nd, at Dougherty Funeral Home in Duluth.  Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11a.m., Friday, June 23rd, at Salem Lutheran Church 4715 Hermantown Road in Hermantown, MN.
